Todd was at the forefront of the music industry’s change when artists and labels began to realize the tide had turned and music videos were a necessity, that it was more important to get your song watched than heard. Capitalizing on his ingenuity, industry connections and his budget and financial acumen, Todd worked as a freelance, production manager and line producer on music videos for artists like Sting and Kelly Clarkson. However, he was also quick to discern that the climate in the music industry was changing, music video budgets were getting smaller and made the necessary leap into TV.
His start in television was with BET where he worked as a production manager and line producer on everything from BET News and 106 & Park to the BET Awards and Rip The Runway. While there, Todd continued to think from a creative standpoint and Executive Produced several shows for BET like Road To Platinum, which was a mini reality series starring Bow Wow and Omarion as they dealt with the pressures of trying to transition from boys to men in the eyes of the industry. He also produced shows for BET News similar to the ever popular, year in review shows like the Crank That Year Back show he did in 2007. During this time, Todd also Executive Produced a show for TV One, the Ebony Fashion Fair 25th Anniversary show. Recognized just as much for his production management and line producer skills as well as for his creative ventures, after 5 years with BET, Todd was able to springboard his ever growing list of skills to the reality TV world. Starting with Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes for OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, he went on to join the Production team of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, Don’t Be Tardy…, for the Bravo Network as well as Tyler Perry: Behind the Scenes for the OWN network and The Sisterhood for TLC. Todd also worked on the Kandi Factory for the Bravo network, an artist development show where his company was also commissioned to produce all the music videos for the artists that won each episode that season, all of which were highlighted on the show and BravoTV.com.
Now Todd and his production company are working on projects from start to finish; creating and pitching concepts, developing shows and producing them. His latest project is with R&B Singer and Grammy award winning star of Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kandi Burruss. He and Kandi are producing the stage play, A Mother’s Love, loosely based on Kandi’s life. Todd is producing a DVD of the play and is looking to license a series of stage plays to a network. Todd doesn’t put limits on himself. ‘We can do anything,’ he says. With his strong work ethic and tenacity of spirit, Todd Tucker and his production company are poised to do even more great work.
